United States Trade Representative (USTR) publishes “Special 301 Report” annually to report the developments in intellectual property (IP) rights protections, enforcement and related market access. The main purpose of the report is to identify countries efforts to open their markets for the US exports and services and provide protection and enforcement to the US intellectual property rights.
The report has continued to place China, India, Indonesia, Colombia, among others, in the “Priority Watch List” for insufficient measurable improvement to its IP framework. In addition, China has continued to be accused of trade secret theft, online piracy, counterfeiting, among others.
