Hayley Channer

Ms Hayley Channer is the Senior Policy Fellow at the Perth USAsia Centre. Hayley is an expert on foreign and defence policy in the Indo-Pacific and is based in Canberra. She leads the Centre’s engagement with key Australian Government agencies and other policy stakeholders, and the growth of the Centre’s policy network.

Hayley previously worked for the Department of Defence producing strategic policy guidance on defence capabilities and international engagement with the United States and Japan. She published strategic policy analysis on Northeast Asia and US policy in the Indo-Pacific while working as an Analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. In 2014, she was a Visiting Fellow with the East West Centre in Washington DC.

Hayley has a Master of International Relations from the University of Queensland and a certificate in Public Policy from the London School of Economics.
